At Tutelage Residential Services, we understand that choosing a residence and/ or supports partner can be a difficult decision. We want to make the transition as seamless as possible for each person and their families. We value and encourage self advocacy as little or as much as the person we are supporting would like. We pride ourselves in not only providing outstanding service to the individuals that we support, but also to their families in order to build strong, long-lasting relationships.
In determining for residential services’ or any other support services, we utilize the "best fit" model which aims to match individuals based on certain considerations. These considerations include an individual's interests, housemate preference, their personality, the ability of Tutelage Residential Services, LLC to support the needs of the individual, location of the home or services, and the needs and desires of the individual and their family. Tours and trial meetings and visits are highly encouraged. Tutelage Residential Services, LLC will also provide transitional supports, if and when necessary.
Admissions or Referrals
Any individual seeking admission or referred to any Tutelage Residential Services, LLC residences or other support services will not be refused on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, age, sex, ancestry, national origin or disability.
All admissions to our residential programs Tutelage Residential Services, LLC are completely voluntary and individuals interested in our community home program and services should meet the following criterion:
Tutelage Residential Services, LLC residential programs are considered long term with no predetermined length of residence for those who request these supports, therefore admissions and continued residency are determined by the appropriateness of the placement as well as the individual’s choice.
Tutelage Residential Services, LLC receives all of its referrals from the Allegheny County Department of Human Services Office of Intellectual Disabilities. This office evaluates and determines eligibility for individuals interested in receiving waiver funding for services. We encourage those interested in receiving information on waiver funding eligibility and services to contact their Supports Coordinator (SC) or the Allegheny County Department of Human Services Office of Intellectual Disabilities at 412-253-1399 (General Inquiries) OR 412-253-1250 (Intake & Registration). - Have a primary diagnosis of an intellectual disability or autism
- Be independently ambulatory or ambulatory by means of a wheelchair, walker or other mechanical device
- Be free from the need for extraordinary medical care
- Individuals must not be a current danger to self or others
